Pauline Gidget Estella, Technische Universität Ilmenau

Pauline Gidget Estella is an assistant professor at the University of the Philippines and a PhD candidate at Technische Universität Ilmenau in Germany. Her research interests lie on the areas of journalism education, Global South studies, digital mis- and disinformation, and crisis communication. She is currently working in the DECIPHER project at TU Ilmenau, a comparative project examining COVID-19-related crisis communication in Europe and the U.S. She has taught journalism education evaluation in Germany and journalism and communication research in the Philippines. Ms. Estella has served as consultant for research in international organizations like the European Journalism Centre and Asia Pacific Research Network. From time to time, Ms. Estella is being asked to be a journalism curriculum consultant at the Philippine Department of Education, as well as workplace communication consultant for government agencies and some private companies in the Philippines.

Martin Löffelholz, Technische Universität Ilmenau

Martin Löffelholz is Professor of Media Studies and also founder and head of the International Crisis Communication Research Group at Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany. Since June 2021, he has been spokesperson for the DECIPHER research consortium, which analyzes the communication strategies of governments and healthcare institutions in six European countries and the United States on the topic of Covid-19. From 2012 to 2015, he was president of the Swiss German University in Jakarta, Indonesia. He has also been an adjunct lecturer at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines since 2004 and Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University in Indonesia since 2000. Professor Löffelholz has conducted numerous research projects, particularly in the areas of journalism, international communication, crisis and war communication, organizational communication, public diplomacy, and military communication, and is the author or (co-)editor of more than 300 scholarly publications, including 18 books.
