Kai Hafez is Professor for Comparative International Media and Communication Research at the University of Erfurt and Founder and Director of the MA Global Communication: Politics & Society. His research focuses on media globalization, media and political transformation, in particular in the Middle East, and communicational and political relations between the West and the Islamic World. His recent activities include his work on the Independent Expert Council on Islamophobia for the Interior Ministry of Germany. Among his most known publications are The Myth of Media Globalization (Polity, 2007) or his recently published book together with Dr. Anne Grüne, Foundations of Global Communication. A Conceptual Handbook (Routledge, 2022).
